We were missing fresh high quality coffee from our hotel apartment in Lake Tekapo. Southern Sky Roasters hooked us up on a cold and sleepy Wednesday morning! Their fresh ground coffee was accompanied by a friendly welcome. Would recommend to all of our friends.

Very friendly and enthusiastic shop. It was raining when we arrived at Tekapo. There was no one in the shop. We rang the doorbell with hope and the owner drove over in a few minutes! He introduced the coffee beans to us very kindly. We bought them home and tasted them. We liked them very much. They are suitable for making Italian coffee and latte. I am glad that I did not miss this shop. I recommend it.

I am an avid coffee lover. I make it all the time at home - both filter & espresso-based. Imagine how thrilled I was when I found that there was a roaster in Tekapo area!
My wife and I popped by one morning (we were only in the region for effectively 40 hours). We were so warmly welcomed that my Asian conservativeness felt at ease. Their roasts are fresh, sweet, and juicy! I love their set up. John and Martina take a huge pride in what they do. You can see it and feel it! I bought a couple of bags for myself and as gifts - I would have gotten more, but one can only drink so much coffee in so little time.
They made me a long black, which i brought with me on my drive to Mt Cook and up the Sealy Tarns track. I also did pour overs every morning I was in NZ, This was my companion on my long drives, hikes, and sitting in the comfort of my lodging.
When I close my eyes, I still remember the sights, smells, tastes, and people interactions from my time in NZ. It was really phenomenal. Thank you John and Martina for being a part of it! -

John and Martina were super friendly, we were looking for some freshly roasted beans for our campervan adventure and they were our saviours! They freshly ground the beans for use with our Aeropress and gave us lots of recommendations for our short stay in Lake Tekapo. They were so welcoming and more than happy to talk about their roasting journey which we were fascinated by. We only wish we lived in NZ so we could be regular customers!

My husband and I were passing through Tekapo and found Southern Sky Roasters. John and Martina made me the most amazing tasting coffee and are such lovely genuine people. Don't pass through without trying the coffee or even better buying their freshly roasted beans!! I know if I lived in NZ I would 100% be a regular. Thanks again for the beautiful coffee and chat πβοΈ

I've been a regular customer of this coffee roaster since I first came across them at a local market. Although New Zealand has a strong espresso culture, I buy whole beans and enjoy drip brewing. Although it depends on the timing, the process from ordering to receiving is smooth so I think its a good idea for tourists to contact them! I look forward to doing business with them again.

This was a great way to try your coffee! [The trial pack of 3 blends each 100 g] Its hard to choose a favourite, but I think its between Meteor and Aurora. All three are so good though.

When you find a yummy coffee blend ... You buy in bulk π
First tried this coffee in June on a trip to tekapo, and just recently purchased some more plunger blend online π
They do plunger, whole beans, espresso and stovetop blends and I highly rate the aurora π€€
If you're in tekapo be sure to check them out or better yet, buy online!!! You won't regret it! -

I wanted to do a shout out to the good people at our local Tekapo coffee roasters, Southern Sky Roasters I didn't know we had our own local coffee roasters here until I saw their stall at one of the local markets a few months ago. Since then I've been buying their coffee at the local garage, but when I popped in yesterday they didn't have any of the espresso grind left. So I emailed and within about half an hour I had a reply back from owner Martina who said she'd be happy to get some ready for me and when did I need it by? I picked up my order yesterday afternoon, and ready to kick off the working day now with a good cuppa coffee! Thank you

We had the pleasure of visiting Martina & John in their coffee roastery while travelling through New Zealand. As soon as you enter the roasting room, you are greeted by a wonderful aroma.
They source their beans Fairtrade and organic from Christchurch and then roast and grind them in their own small roastery at home.
Their hospitality is excellent - we were immediately invited to sample the coffee in their home. For coffee lovers, this little spot on Lake Tekapo is a real insider tip for learning more about the world of coffee and discovering these delicious beans.
Conclusion: If you are looking for exceptional coffee and a personalised, professional service, you should definitely stop by Martina & John.
The coffee we took back to Germany is also loved by all our friends here, because every sip makes us happy! -

Don't regret leaving Christchurch without buying good coffee beans. Although it's the only roastery in the Tekapo area, they sell fresh and well-balanced beans. If you're a romantic who knows how to brew your own coffee while traveling in a campervan, you should definitely visit this place. It looks like a typical New Zealand rural home, but they were very kind when I asked for coffee. I bought some for myself and gifts for my friends! Bless Southern Sky Roasters!

There is a reason I buy the coffee beans my family use β¦ to ensure they use the best. And they thank me every time because they love Southern Sky Roasters beans. I donβt have the ability to make my coffee using a coffee machine but the Southern Sky plunger coffee I have is just as good. A big thank you to the team for making such incredible coffee β¦ Southern Sky Roasters is right up there. Thank you for keeping my coffee sorted, and the kids I teach happy!
