Hellooo Southern Sky Roasters Family!
Winter is well and truly here, and like the crisp mountain air in Tekapo, there’s a feeling of momentum building at the roastery. The energy has been high behind the scenes, and we’ve had some exciting developments across the business - starting with the launch of our brand-new Stellar Blend.
The response to Stellar Blend has been nothing short of incredible. It’s been especially rewarding to see so many of our regular customers give it a try and then come back for more. There’s something so special about developing a new blend and watching it find its place in people’s daily rituals - we’re so proud of how it’s landed.
In two weeks' time, I’ll be heading up to Tekapo to stay with Mum (Martina) and John, who run the roastery full-time. It’s always a joy to reconnect with the heart of the business - and this trip will be all about content creation, storytelling, and capturing some fresh behind-the-scenes moments. We’ve recently added a set of mini microphones to our toolkit, which has really elevated the quality of our reels. If you’ve been watching, liking, or sharing - thank you! We feel incredibly supported by our online community and love having you along for the ride.
As for Martina and John, a bit of a winter ritual has been forming: starting the day with a cup of Southern Sky coffee, heading up the mountain for a ski, scoping out the slopes, then returning home to roast - which, let’s be honest, is a pretty great way to warm up. With the early snowfall and cold temps, the slopes at Round Hill opened ahead of schedule, which made for a fantastic start to the season.
We’re also thrilled to welcome Alpine Recreation on board - we are proudly supplying their Lodge, Alpine Huts (Rex Simpson and Caroline Huts), and guides with our beans. It’s a natural fit and a meaningful partnership for us. It’s a fantastic partnership that connects us even more closely with the landscape and the people who explore it. There’s something fitting about adventurers fuelling up with locally roasted coffee before heading out into the alpine - and we’re thrilled to be a part of that journey.
As you know, I look after all the branding and marketing for Southern Sky Roasters - from our online presence to packaging and content. It keeps me closely connected to the roastery, even from Dunedin. A fun project I am currently working on is our vehicle signage! Keep your eyes peeled - soon it won’t just be John’s ute repping the Southern Sky Roasters logo. I’m working on new designs for both Mum’s car and mine, and we’re excited to start spreading the SSR name a little further on the road.
As always, thank you for being part of our Southern Sky Roasters community - whether you’re following along online, grabbing a bag of beans, or just cheering us on from afar. Keep tagging us in your coffee moments, and let us know what you’ve been loving.
Until next time, stay warm and stay stellar.
